Classroom Development Strategies for Japanese Language Instruction

In this workshop, participants will learn how to use a variety of resources to incorporate the teaching of Japanese folk tales into classroom-based language education. Instruction and activities will be based on lectures, presentations, pair/group work and homework assignments.

Target Audience/Level of Teachers
Participants must be K-16 Japanese teachers whose Japanese speaking and listening proficiency is above Intermediate-Mid in the ACTFL scale. They should be able to carry on daily conversation in both Japanese and English. In-service school teachers of Washington State will have priority.

Registration Fee:
A $60 registration fee is requested from all participants to cover instructor fees, course materials, refreshments, etc. To register, please make your check payable to the Hyogo Business & Cultural Center and mail with the application form.

Clock Hours
Participants can earn 18 clock hours upon completion of this course, sponsored by the University of Washington East Asia Resource Center.

Travel Stipends
We are happy to announce that our office again has three $100 stipends that will be available to teachers from eastern Washington to help defray the costs of traveling to and from the Summer Institute.
