A Three-Day Workshop Focusing on Syllabus Usage in the Japanese Classroom

The Hyogo Business and Cultural Center will be holding its teachers summer institute again this year, and the theme of the 3 day workshop series will be writing syllabi and how to transform a syllabus into actual teaching, led by our two most instructors Hiroko Kataoka and Yashy Tosaku. The registration deadline for this workshop series is Wednesday, July 25th, however workshop space is limited, so please be sure to register as early as possible.

Kataoka sensei and Tosaku sensei will be sharing the techniques that they’ve developed for developing effective student syllabi as well as how to use that in real classroom exercises suitable for both regular and AP Japanese.

About the Instructors:

  • Hiroko Kataoka (Ph.D., University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) Professor, Department of Asian and Asian American Studies, California State University, Long Beach.
  • Yasuhiko Tosaku (Ph.D.,University of California, San Diego) Professor, Graduate school of International Relations and Pacific Studies, University of California, San Diego.

Both instructors have conducted many workshops and taught classes related to Japanese language pedagogy. Details about clock hours and college credits coming soon. We are asking each participant to pay a registration fee of $80 to cover some of the workshop expenses such as material fees, honorarium and other expenses.

Please mail a completed application form with the $80 registration fee (personal check only) by the 25th of July registration deadline to the Hyogo Business & Cultural Center, 2001 6th Avenue, Suite 2610, Seattle, WA 98121.

Note: After the July 25th deadline, cancellations will not be accepted and refunds will not be given.
