Children's Day
Kodomo no Hi, also known as Children’s Day, is a Japanese holiday that celebrates children and recognizes their specific characteristics. Every May 5th, one can expect to find colorful festivities and ornamentation outside of Japanese homes.
Some decorations common on Children’s Day include koinobori, which are carp streamers, and kabuto, which are samurai helmets.
The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington hosts a Kodomo no Hi celebration every year in early May at the JCCCW building in Seattle!
Look forward to:
Live performances
Martial arts demonstrations
Hands-on-activities
Games for all ages
Whether you have children or not, feel free to take part in JCCCW's Kodomo no Hi to experience a rich cultural tradition!
